Galway University Hospitals is seeking an experienced senior manager to lead and oversee all aspects of hospital security services. This permanent whole-time role is critical to maintaining a safe, secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors across a complex acute hospital setting. The post offers a high-impact leadership opportunity within a major teaching hospital group.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for hospital security services
• Develop, implement, and monitor security policies, procedures, and risk controls
• Manage and support security staff, including performance, training, and workforce planning
• Liaise with senior management, clinical leaders, An Garda Síochána, and external agencies
• Oversee incident management, investigations, and reporting
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, health & safety legislation, and best practice standards
• Contribute to emergency planning, business continuity, and major incident response
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Eligibility to apply as a current employee of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agency, or statutory health agency
• Significant management experience in security, risk, or a related operational environment
• Proven leadership, people management, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong knowledge of security governance, incident management, and compliance
• Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities
• Flexible approach to working hours to meet service demands
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade V (0566) salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025)
