An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Medical Scientist (Histology) to join the HSE West and North West region in Sligo. This senior role is ideal for an experienced histology professional seeking to contribute at an advanced scientific and leadership level within a busy diagnostic laboratory service.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide senior-level scientific expertise in Histology and relevant Cytology services
• Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic laboratory results
• Supervise, mentor, and support Medical Scientist staff and trainees
• Maintain compliance with laboratory quality, safety, and accreditation standards
• Contribute to service development, audits, and continuous quality improvement
• Participate in laboratory management and workflow optimisation as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Eligibility for registration with CORU as a Medical Scientist
• Significant post-qualification experience in Histology (and Cytology where relevant)
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of professional practice at senior level
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems and accreditation standards
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
