Assistant Staff Officer — National Ambulance Service, HSE Mid West (Limerick)
A permanent, wholetime Assistant Staff Officer vacancy has arisen within the National Ambulance Service at Ambulance Headquarters, Dooradoyle, Limerick. This Grade IV role offers an opportunity for an experienced administrative professional to contribute to the effective operational and administrative management of one of Ireland’s most critical frontline services. This confined competition is open to eligible HSE and statutory health sector employees only.
Role Overview
The Assistant Staff Officer will provide high-quality administrative and clerical support within the National Ambulance Service, HSE Mid West. Operating at Grade IV level, the postholder will play a key role in supporting day-to-day service delivery, contributing to administrative efficiency, and ensuring accurate record management within a busy ambulance operations environment.

- Providing comprehensive administrative support to the management team within the National Ambulance Service.
- Maintaining accurate records, files, and databases in accordance with HSE policies and data protection requirements.

- Coordinating information flow between internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Supporting operational and HR-related administrative functions as required.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of administrative systems and processes.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Job Specification for this confined competition. Salary
€36,470 – €56,018 per annum (HSE Assistant Staff Officer / Grade IV Clerical scale, 12-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable). Pay is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Long Service Increments (LSIs) are payable beyond the maximum of the standard scale subject to eligibility.
Location
Ambulance Headquarters, St Nessans Road, Dooradoyle, Limerick, V94 DX26. The National Ambulance Service Mid West region serves County Limerick and the broader HSE Mid West area, which encompasses Limerick, Tipperary, and Clare. This is a frontline support location at the heart of emergency medical operations for the region.
