The Registrar Obstetrics & Gynaecology Drogheda position offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a busy acute hospital setting. Based at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth County Hospital, this role supports comprehensive maternity and gynaecology services within the HSE Dublin and North East region.

This post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and provides valuable experience across obstetric and gynaecological care pathways.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients
• Participate in labour ward, theatre, and antenatal/postnatal services
• Support emergency and elective gynaecology services
• Work collaboratively with consultants, midwives, and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
• Participate in on-call rotas as required
• Engage in clinical audit, teaching, and continuous professional development
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility to register
• Experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NCHD/Registrar level
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure acute hospital environment
• Commitment to patient safety and quality improvement
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) for Registrar Grade 1538:
€68,891 – €81,126 per annum (depending on point placement)
