University Hospital Waterford is seeking a Rheumatology & General Internal Medicine (GIM) Registrar to join its dynamic medical team. This fixed-term, wholetime role offers excellent exposure to specialist rheumatology services alongside acute general medicine in a busy teaching hospital environment.

The post is suitable for doctors pursuing higher specialist training or seeking robust registrar-level experience in Rheumatology and GIM within the Irish public health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient Rheumatology care
• Participate in General Internal Medicine on-call and ward cover
• Support consultant-led clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Contribute to acute medical admissions and patient management
• Supervise and support junior NCHDs
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries
• Engage in audit, teaching, and continuous professional development

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility to register
• Previous experience at Registrar level in Medicine
• Demonstrated interest or experience in Rheumatology
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
• ACLS/ALS certification desirable

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Registrar – Medicine (1530)
Salary: In line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025)
Contract: Fixed Term, Wholetime
Benefits: Public service pension, annual leave, study leave, and training opportunities
Working Pattern: As per NCHD roster, including on-call commitments

Salary scales are applied in accordance with Department of Health Circulars and national agreements.
