St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny is seeking a motivated Senior House Officer (SHO) in Surgery to join its surgical team. This role offers hands-on clinical experience in a busy acute hospital environment, supporting high-quality patient care and professional development within the Irish public health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day surgical care to inpatients and outpatients under consultant supervision
• Assist in theatre sessions, ward rounds, and outpatient clinics
• Participate in on-call rotas as required
• Perform clinical assessments, investigations, and procedures within scope of competence
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety
• Contribute to audit, teaching, and continuous quality improvement activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council
• Completion of Internship or equivalent recognised by the IMC
• Demonstrated interest or experience in surgical disciplines
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary in line with HSE Senior House Officer pay scales (Grade 1011)
• Contract: Fixed Term, Whole Time

• On-call and rostered duties apply in accordance with service requirements
