An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to join the Emergency Department and Outpatient MSK services at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. This permanent whole-time role plays a key part in delivering high-quality, evidence-based MSK and emergency physiotherapy services within a busy Model 3 teaching hospital.

Working collaboratively with Clinical Specialists and multidisciplinary colleagues, the post holder will contribute to service development aligned with National Clinical Care Programmes while supporting excellent patient outcomes across acute and outpatient pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based MSK physiotherapy care in ED and Outpatient settings
• Work collaboratively with Clinical Specialists in ED and VFAC services
• Contribute to the coordination and development of MSK and ED physiotherapy services
• Provide cover for fracture clinics and virtual fracture clinics as required
• Support physiotherapy services across inpatient and outpatient settings based on service needs
• Participate in clinical education and supervision activities
• Ensure services align with professional standards and HSE policies
• Contribute to weekend and out-of-hours on-call physiotherapy services

Required Skills & Qualifications

• CORU registration as a Physiotherapist (mandatory)
• Relevant postgraduate experience in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
• Demonstrated experience working in Emergency Department or acute MSK settings
• Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and service improvement

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary: In line with HSE Senior Physiotherapist (Grade 3158) Consolidated Pay Scales effective 1 August 2025
• Contract: Permanent Wholetime
• Benefits include public service pension, annual leave, paid CPD, and structured career progression
• Participation in weekend and emergency on-call rotas is required

This role is based at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Co. Louth, part of the Louth Hospitals Group within the Dublin and North East Health Region. The Physiotherapy Service is an integrated service spanning acute hospitals, community hubs, and primary care, delivering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care across multiple specialties.

The post is employed by the Health Service Executive (HSE), Ireland’s national public health service.
