An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Mayo University Hospital. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective pharmaceutical care within an acute hospital setting, supporting multidisciplinary teams and contributing to service development.

This competition is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level clinical pharmacy services to patients and clinical teams
• Contribute to medication safety, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
• Supervise, mentor, and support junior pharmacy staff and students
• Participate in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
• Support audit, research, and service evaluation activities
• Ensure compliance with professional, legislative, and HSE standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)
• Significant post-registration experience working in a hospital pharmacy
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience relevant to a senior pharmacist role
• Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities
• Experience in supervising staff is highly desirable

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary in line with HSE Senior Pharmacist (Grade 3239) consolidated pay scales (effective August 2025)
