An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Physiotherapist to join the Minor Injury Unit (MIU) at Mayo University Hospital, Ballina. This role focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries within an acute hospital setting. The post holder will play a key clinical role within a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment for MSK and soft tissue injuries
• Manage patients presenting to the Minor Injury Unit, including orthopaedic-related cases
• Demonstrate clinical leadership and support junior staff and students
• Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE standards
• Participate in multidisciplinary decision-making and care planning
• Engage in continuous professional development relevant to acute MSK practice
Required Skills & Qualifications
• CORU registration as a Physiotherapist (or eligibility to register)
• Demonstrable depth and breadth of clinical experience in MSK / Soft Tissue Injury management
• Proven experience working in an acute hospital or injury unit setting, including orthopaedics
• Evidence of relevant CPD in acute orthopaedic and musculoskeletal physiotherapy
• Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Salary in line with HSE Senior Physiotherapist (Grade 3158) pay scales, as per Department of Health consolidated scales (effective 1 August 2025)
