HSE Dublin and South East is seeking experienced Senior Special Needs Dental Surgeons to join community dental services across the South East. These senior clinical roles focus on delivering high-quality dental care to patients with special needs in a multidisciplinary, community-based setting. This campaign supports permanent service delivery in Wexford and Waterford, with opportunities for future panel appointments.

There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy in Wexford Dental Services and one permanent part-time vacancy (0.8 WTE) in Waterford Dental Services.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide senior-level clinical dental care to patients with special needs
• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary community dental teams
• Support clinical governance, quality improvement, and best practice
• Assess, plan, and deliver appropriate dental treatment programmes
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to dental staff
• Maintain accurate clinical records and reports
• Engage with patients, families, carers, and external agencies
• Contribute to service planning and development within community settings
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Dental Surgeon with the Dental Council of Ireland
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
• Significant post-qualification clinical experience
• Demonstrated experience working with patients with special needs
• Proven depth and breadth of experience within community-based teams
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is in line with HSE Senior Dental Surgeon Grade 1589 payscales, effective from 1 August 2025, ranging from €91,486 to €116,809 per annum (pro-rata for part-time roles), subject to incremental progression.
