The Health Service Executive is seeking an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across Galway and Roscommon. This senior clinical role supports children and young people with complex mental health and communication needs, contributing specialist expertise within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver specialist speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for children and adolescents within CAMHS
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team
• Contribute to care planning, case formulation, and clinical decision-making
• Provide consultation, supervision, and support to colleagues and junior staff
• Engage with families, carers, schools, and external agencies as appropriate
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports in line with HSE standards
• Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist
• Minimum required post-qualification experience to meet Senior SLT criteria
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience relevant to CAMHS or child mental health services
• Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
• Experience working with children and adolescents with complex needs
• Eligibility to work in Ireland

There are two permanent whole-time posts currently available:
• CAMHS Roscommon – serving East Galway / South Roscommon
• Galway West CAMHS Community Team, Ballard House, Galway
The posts fall under HSE West and North West, covering Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway.
