Role Overview
As a Staff Nurse, you will be central to the day-to-day delivery of care for residents at Sligo Nursing Home. You will act as Named Nurse for assigned residents, uphold professional standards, and contribute to a team environment where dignity, compassion, and respect underpin every interaction. The role carries both clinical and administrative responsibilities, including documentation, medication management, and liaison with healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care that respects the dignity, privacy, and individuality of each resident.
- Act as Named Nurse, maintaining all relevant documentation accurately and in line with legislation.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and visitors, providing support during bereavement and other sensitive periods.
- Ensure Mowlam Healthcare policies and standards are understood and adhered to across the team.
- Safeguard the administration, custody, and control of all drugs and medicines in accordance with policy.
- Demonstrate knowledge of HIQA standards and actively participate in inspection processes.
- Manage admissions in line with procedures, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals regarding resident discharge to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- First level registration.
- Current registration on the NMBI live register.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Strong decision-making ability with the capacity to work on own initiative.
- Self-motivated and able to inspire and support colleagues.
- Collaborative team player with a results-driven approach to resident care.
