Job Overview
The Staff Nurse Neonatal role at Portiuncula University Hospital involves delivering specialised nursing care to newborns requiring medical support. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and recovery of neonatal patients while supporting families during a vital stage of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to neonates in line with best clinical practices
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, responding promptly to changes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
- Support and educate parents and families on neonatal care needs
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Recent post-registration experience in neonatal and/or paediatric nursing within the last 2 years
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Commitment to delivering patient-centred care
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse Grade 2135 pay scale. This position offers competitive pay, public sector benefits, and opportunities for professional development. The role is available on a Permanent Wholetime or Specified Purpose Wholetime basis, with working hours structured according to hospital rostering requirements.
