Staff Nurse Social Inclusion – Waterford & Kilkenny

Health Service Executive Dublin and South East is recruiting Staff Nurses (General) for Social Inclusion services. These roles focus on delivering evidence-based nursing care to vulnerable populations, particularly within substance misuse services across the South East.

There are two permanent vacancies currently available:
• 1.0 WTE at St Otteran’s Hospital, Waterford
• 0.5 WTE at James Green Substance Misuse Service, Kilkenny

A panel may also be formed to fill future permanent or specified-purpose vacancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based nursing care in line with NMBI standards and HSE policies
• Support individuals experiencing social exclusion, including substance misuse
• Participate in assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary Social Inclusion teams
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
• Promote health education and harm reduction initiatives
• Engage with service users from diverse backgrounds respectfully and professionally

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration as a General Nurse with NMBI (active or eligible)
• Demonstrated experience in Social Inclusion nursing, including substance misuse
• Experience working with Traveller Health, Homelessness, or Migrant Health is desirable
• Willingness to undertake venepuncture training if not already completed
• Strong communication, assessment, and teamwork skills

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary in line with HSE Staff Nurse (General) pay scales (effective 1 August 2025)

• Permanent whole-time and permanent part-time contracts available

• Salary scales are governed by Department of Health consolidated pay agreements
