Job Overview
As a Senior Medical Scientist, you will work closely with the Specialist Medical Scientist to develop and manage POCT services within a comprehensive pathology department. This role is central to maintaining quality standards and delivering accurate diagnostic services across hospital and community healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the development of Point of Care Testing (POCT) services
- Ensure compliance with ISO 15189:2022 Medical Laboratory standards
- Assist in the management and oversight of laboratory operations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hospital and community services
- Maintain high standards in diagnostic testing across Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and related disciplines
- Support quality assurance, audit, and accreditation processes
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to laboratory staff
- Contribute to continuous service improvement and innovation
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification as a Medical Scientist with CORU registration
- Significant experience in clinical laboratory services
- Demonstrated expertise in Point of Care Testing (POCT)
- Strong knowledge of ISO 15189:2022 standards
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a consultant-led environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving capabilities
