Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join its inpatient Occupational Therapy Service in Drogheda, County Louth. Job Overview

The Senior Occupational Therapist will work as part of multidisciplinary inpatient teams delivering coordinated occupational therapy services to patients in acute care settings. The role involves managing a complex caseload, carrying out specialised assessments and treatment interventions, and supporting continuous clinical improvement initiatives.

This is a full-time specified purpose contract with flexibility to move internally across acute specialities within the service. A panel may also be formed for future temporary and permanent positions across Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, The Cottage Hospital, and Louth County Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex inpatient occupational therapy caseload within acute hospital services
  • Deliver specialised occupational therapy assessments and treatment interventions
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient outcomes
  • Maintain and develop high standards of evidence-based clinical practice
  • Participate in clinical evaluation, audit activities, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide supervision and support to staff grade occupational therapists, assistants, and students
  • Contribute to service planning and operational efficiency within inpatient occupational therapy services
  • Carry out educational and clinical duties as required by the organisation

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with CORU or eligibility for registration
  • Previous experience working within acute hospital or inpatient healthcare settings
  • Strong clinical assessment and rehabilitation skills
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities
  • Experience supporting clinical supervision and student education is desirable
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and service development
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads within a fast-paced healthcare environment

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary for this Senior Occupational Therapist position will be aligned with HSE Senior Occupational Therapist pay scales. The role is offered on a specified purpose whole-time basis within the HSE Dublin and North East region.
