Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services is recruiting a Preschool Educator to support children with disabilities in their specialist preschool setting. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute directly to early childhood development within an established HSE disability service in the West and North West region.

Role Overview
The Preschool Educator will work within the Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services preschool, which forms part of a wider community-based disability model encompassing over 55 group homes across Sligo and Leitrim. The service continues to expand in line with national decongregation and community integration policy, and this role places the successful candidate at the heart of that progress — specifically in supporting young children with disabilities in a nurturing, structured early years environment.
A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies, of full-time or part-time duration, within the Preschool Educator (Intellectual Disability Service) grade across the Sligo/Leitrim area.
Key Responsibilities
While a full job specification will be provided on application, the role will involve:
- Delivering high-quality early years education and care to children with disabilities
- Supporting children’s developmental, social, and communication needs within the preschool setting
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and families
- Contributing to individualised plans and outcomes for each child
- Maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience supporting children with additional needs
- Experience working in preschool or early years settings

Salary
€34,881 – €48,434 per annum (HSE Care Assistant (Disability Services) scale, 13-point scale, plus LSI where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Pay is pro-rata for part-time and worksharing arrangements.

Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services operates a community-based model of care, with over 55 group homes across Sligo and Leitrim. The preschool for children with disabilities is based within this service area. The post is situated within the HSE West and North West region, covering Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway.
