Aras Mhic Dara Community Nursing Unit in Carraroe is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to lead high-quality care delivery within Older People Services. This permanent leadership role offers the opportunity to shape clinical standards, oversee safeguarding responsibilities, and deputise for the Director of Nursing when required.
This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Galway opportunity is ideal for an experienced nurse leader with strong gerontology expertise and residential care experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and professional leadership within the Community Nursing Unit.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience across the CNM2 scope of practice in Gerontology and Older People Services.
- Undertake the Safeguarding Delegated Officer Role within residential care.
- Deputise for the Director of Nursing/Person in Charge in their absence.
- Ensure high standards of person-centred care and regulatory compliance.
- Support staff development, supervision, and performance management.
- Participate flexibly in rostering arrangements as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with active registration on the appropriate division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant professional knowledge and experience within Gerontology/Older People Services.
- Recent experience (within the last six years) in nursing care of the older person.
- Demonstrated leadership and management capability at senior nursing level.
- Experience in residential care settings.
- Ability to fulfil Safeguarding Delegated Officer responsibilities.
- Flexibility in relation to rostering arrangements.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade 2119) HSE consolidated pay scale.
As per the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025), the salary scale for Clinical Nurse Manager 2 ranges from:
€61,463 to €77,666 (LSI) per annum

Location & Employer Information
This position is based at Aras Mhic Dara Community Nursing Unit, Carraroe, County Galway, within the HSE West and North West region (Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal).
The role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants. A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill future permanent or specified purpose vacancies across the West region.
