The HSE Dublin and South East region is inviting applications for the role of Assistant Director of Nursing (Band 1) – Digital Health (Ref: ADONDH25). This is an exciting opportunity to lead innovation and digital transformation across nursing and midwifery services in one of Ireland’s most progressive health regions.
About the Role
Reporting to the Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery, the Assistant Director of Nursing – Digital Health will support the implementation of digital health initiatives that enhance patient care, safety, and service efficiency. The post holder will play a key leadership role in integrating digital solutions into clinical practice across acute and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead digital health transformation projects within the nursing and midwifery directorate.
- Provide expert clinical leadership in the adoption of digital systems and technologies.
- Collaborate with regional and national digital health teams to align with HSE eHealth strategies.
- Drive workforce digital capability through training, mentoring, and engagement.
- Monitor and evaluate digital interventions to ensure quality and compliance with HSE standards.
- Represent the region at professional and strategic forums on digital innovation.
- Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives in digital care delivery.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, including significant management experience.
- Proven track record in leadership, service improvement, or digital transformation within healthcare.
- Strong understanding of digital health systems, data governance, and change management.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Health Informatics, Leadership, or Digital Health.
- Experience in project or programme management within the public health sector.
- Knowledge of HSE digital initiatives such as NIMIS, eHealth, or the Digital Health Strategic Framework.
