The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing for Infection Prevention & Control at Wexford General Hospital. This permanent wholetime post plays a pivotal leadership role in maintaining patient safety and quality care standards. The successful candidate will support ongoing improvement initiatives across the hospital’s clinical services.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C) policies and practices across the hospital
• Provide expert clinical guidance to nursing, medical, and allied health teams
• Drive compliance with national HSE IP&C standards, audits, and quality frameworks
• Develop and implement improvement plans, training, and risk reduction initiatives
• Support outbreak management, surveillance systems, and data reporting
• Collaborate with senior nursing management and multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to strategic planning and service development
• Ensure effective governance, performance monitoring, and staff supervision

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (Active NMBI registration)
• Significant experience in Infection Prevention & Control within an acute hospital setting
• Proven leadership and management experience at senior nursing level
• Strong knowledge of HSE clinical governance, patient safety, and quality frameworks
• Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary engagement and change initiatives
• Postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention & Control or related discipline (desirable)
