Sligo University Hospital is seeking applications for Catering Attendant (Lónadóir Cúntóir) positions. This is an excellent opportunity to join the HSE West & North West support team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient catering services in a busy hospital environment. The role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
About the Role
The Catering Attendant will work as part of the hospital’s catering department to provide nutritious and well-presented meals to patients, visitors, and staff. Duties include food preparation, service, hygiene maintenance, and assisting with stock management. This role is vital in supporting patient care and hospital operations within the General Support Services division.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals in line with HSE dietary and hygiene standards.
- Maintain cleanliness in food preparation and service areas.
- Adhere to food safety and HACCP protocols.
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, and equipment cleaning.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to patients and staff.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary support team.
- Ensure compliance with HSE infection prevention and control guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Experience in catering, food service, or a related support role.
- Knowledge of HACCP and food hygiene standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work part-time or full-time, including weekends and shifts.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a healthcare catering environment.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
- Understanding of hospital nutrition standards and allergen control.
What We Offer
- Salary: As per HSE Catering Assistant (Grade Code 4123) scale under the March 2025 Consolidated Salary Scales, ranging approximately from €31,000 to €39,000 per annum (pro rata), depending on experience and service.
