The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking applications for a Specified Purpose Wholetime Chef II (Grade 4529) at Letterkenny University Hospital, Co. Donegal. This is an opportunity to join the HSE West and North West team, supporting patient catering services within a busy hospital environment. A panel will also be formed to fill current and future full-time or part-time vacancies.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook, and present meals in accordance with dietary requirements and hospital standards.
• Maintain the highest levels of hygiene and food safety in line with HSE policy.
• Manage portion control and ensure nutritional balance in meal production.
• Work collaboratively with catering assistants and supervisors to deliver efficient meal service.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety regulations.
• Contribute to menu planning and stock control as required by the Catering Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Recognised professional cookery qualification (e.g., City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a chef in a healthcare or large-scale catering environment.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene, HACCP, and allergen management.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and under time pressure.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• HSE Grade: Chef II (Grade Code 4529).
• Salary Scale (effective from 1 August 2025): €35,943 – €45,700 per annum (as per HSE Consolidated Salary Scales, August 2025).
• Specified Purpose Wholetime contract.
