University Hospital Waterford (UHW), part of HSE Dublin and South East, is inviting applications for the position of Clinical Midwife Manager 3 (CMM3) within its Maternity Services Department. This leadership role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality maternity care within one of the region’s key tertiary hospitals.
About the Role
As a Clinical Midwife Manager 3, you will lead and manage midwifery teams, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care across UHW’s maternity services. The role involves operational oversight, quality improvement, and fostering professional development within midwifery practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and managerial leadership to maternity service teams.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, clinical governance standards, and national maternity care frameworks.
- Support service planning, workforce management, and budgetary control.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and implement best practices in maternity care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective care pathways.
- Mentor, develop, and support midwifery staff in achieving professional excellence.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work culture aligned with UHW’s values.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in a midwifery management role.
- Proven leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, staff development, and service improvement.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in management, leadership, or healthcare administration.
- Experience in strategic planning or quality assurance within a maternity or acute hospital setting.
