The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) in Infection Prevention and Control for Wexford General Hospital. This permanent wholetime role plays a vital part in safeguarding patient safety and delivering high-quality infection prevention standards across the service.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialist clinical expertise in Infection Prevention and Control
• Support the development, implementation and evaluation of IPC policies and procedures
• Deliver staff education and training in infection control practices
• Lead and participate in audit, surveillance and quality-improvement programmes
• Offer expert advice during outbreaks and implement control measures
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to ongoing service development
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse with NMBI
• Experience in Infection Prevention and Control or relevant clinical specialty
• Strong communication, leadership and education skills
• Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement
