Job Overview
This Clinical Pharmacist role at University Hospital Waterford offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive acute hospital pharmacy service within the HSE Dublin and South East region. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmaceutical care across clinical services.
This campaign may also establish a supplementary panel to fill future permanent and specified-purpose whole-time and part-time Clinical Pharmacist vacancies at University Hospital Waterford.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatients and multidisciplinary teams
• Review and validate prescriptions to ensure safe and effective medication use
• Participate in ward rounds and clinical decision-making
• Provide medicines information and patient counselling
• Support medication safety, governance, and audit activities
• Contribute to staff education, training, and service development
• Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and professional standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)
• Relevant postgraduate or hospital pharmacy experience (desirable)
• Strong clinical knowledge and patient-focused approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with the HSE Pharmacist (Grade 3247) consolidated salary scale (August 2025 rates), based on experience
• Contract: Permanent, whole-time
