Cork University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Bed Manager) to support patient flow, emergency capacity and overall service delivery. This permanent and specified purpose role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage bed allocation and patient flow across the hospital
• Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges in line with clinical priorities
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely access to care
• Monitor hospital capacity and respond to surges in demand
• Support effective communication between wards, departments and senior management
• Contribute to quality improvement, governance and patient safety initiatives
• Provide leadership, guidance and support to nursing teams
• Maintain high standards of documentation, reporting and audit compliance
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse with NMBI
• Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience
• Demonstrated leadership or management experience at CNM1/CNM2 level
• Strong decision-making and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Experience working in acute hospital services desirable
• Knowledge of hospital capacity management and patient flow processes

• HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 salary scale effective from 1 August 2025
• Permanent wholetime and specified purpose wholetime contracts available
