The Health Service Executive (HSE) invites applications for two permanent Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist positions (Grade 1826) within the Dublin and North East health region. These roles are split between the Central Mental Hospital, Portrane (29 hours per week) and the Irish Prison Service (8 hours per week). This position offers an exceptional opportunity to provide expert psychiatric care to forensic patients and to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across secure and prison settings.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive forensic psychiatric assessments and treatment for patients within the Central Mental Hospital and Irish Prison Service.
• Lead multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Contribute to service planning, clinical governance, and policy development in forensic psychiatry.
• Offer expert psychiatric consultation and liaison services within the HSE and Irish Prison Service.
• Participate in teaching, supervision, and continuing professional development.
• Maintain compliance with Mental Health Act standards and HSE governance requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered or eligible for registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council Register in Psychiatry.
• Possession of postgraduate training and experience in forensic psychiatry.
• Strong leadership, clinical decision-making, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and continuous professional development.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist (Code 1826)
• Salary scale: As per HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 August 2025, ranging approximately from €240,000 to €280,000 per annum (depending on point of scale and experience).
• Contract type: Permanent Wholetime
• Working hours: 37 hours per week (29 hours at the Central Mental Hospital, 8 hours with the Irish Prison Service).
• Comprehensive pension and annual leave entitlements per HSE consultant contract.
