The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join the Laois/Offaly Mental Health Service. This permanent, wholetime post (37 hours per week) offers an opportunity to lead high-quality adult mental health care across the region. The role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical leadership in General Adult Psychiatry across Laois and Offaly
• Deliver comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adult mental health presentations
• Manage multidisciplinary team input and ensure continuity of care
• Participate in on-call rota and contribute to local service development
• Ensure compliance with Mental Health Act requirements and HSE clinical governance standards
• Engage in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with primary care, community mental health teams, acute services, and partner agencies
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Medical Council Register for Psychiatry
• Extensive clinical experience in General Adult Psychiatry
• Strong leadership and multidisciplinary team management skills
• Excellent knowledge of mental health legislation and service delivery models
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
• Effective communication and decision-making skills
• Eligibility to live and work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Grade: Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist (143Y)
Contract: Permanent Wholetime (37 hours per week)
Salary Scale: HSE Consultant Contract 2023 salary scales apply.
Pay is in accordance with national consolidated salary scales for Consultants, including applicable allowances and increments.
