University Hospital Limerick is seeking a Consultant General Physician to join its acute medical services within the HSE Mid West region. This is a senior consultant appointment offering the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to service development, clinical leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

This Consultant General Physician Limerick role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and represents an excellent opportunity to work in one of Ireland’s busiest and most progressive acute hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consultant-led inpatient and outpatient general medical services
• Lead diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of complex medical cases
• Participate in on-call and emergency medical rotas as required
• Supervise and mentor NCHDs, registrars, and junior medical staff
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Engage in multidisciplinary team working across hospital services
• Support teaching, training, and service planning within the Medicine Directorate
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Specialist in General Medicine on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland
• Proven experience working at consultant level in acute general medicine
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and clinical governance skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Eligibility to work in Ireland at consultant grade
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with approved HSE Consultant General Physician salary scales (Department of Health consolidated pay scales, August 2025)
• Contract Type: Fixed Term, Wholetime
• Working Pattern: Full-time consultant commitment, including on-call duties
