The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for the position of Consultant Psychiatrist in the Psychiatry of Old Age (Ref: WATPOLL25) within the Waterford Mental Health Services. This is a Specified Purpose Wholetime post offering an opportunity to deliver specialist psychiatric care to older adults in the HSE Dublin and South East region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for older adult patients.
• Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide clinical supervision and training to junior medical staff.
• Engage in clinical governance and comply with all HSE standards and policies.
• Contribute to teaching, research, and audit within the service.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Old Age Psychiatry.
• Proven clinical experience in psychiatry of old age.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
• Access to transport is essential.
• Commitment to patient-centered and evidence-based care.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist (143Y).
• Salary as per Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025).
• Full-time, Specified Purpose Contract.
• Pension and annual leave entitlements in accordance with HSE public sector terms.
