The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist with a Special Interest in Substance Misuse to join Mental Health Services Waterford. This permanent, wholetime post offers a significant opportunity to lead specialist psychiatric care within the Dublin and South East health region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, treatment, and management for adults with mental health and substance misuse needs.
• Lead multidisciplinary team activities and contribute to clinical governance, service planning, and quality improvement.
• Deliver expert input into substance misuse pathways and ensure evidence-based, person-centred care.
• Participate in on-call commitments in line with HSE service requirements.
• Engage in audit, research, and teaching activities relevant to the post.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on (or eligibility for) the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council for Psychiatry.
• Extensive experience in General Adult Psychiatry, with specific competence in Substance Misuse.
• Strong leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and high-quality patient care.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Permanent, wholetime contract for 37 hours per week.
• Salary in line with HSE Consultant pay scales (Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales).
