The Health Service Executive (HSE) South West is inviting applications for the permanent, wholetime post of Consultant Psychiatrist of Learning Disability (Adult). Based in MHS Cork South Lee, this position offers a 37-hour work week and provides a vital leadership role in the provision of specialist psychiatric services for adults with intellectual disabilities across the Cork South Lee region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric expertise within the Adult Learning Disability Service.
• Deliver comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans for service users.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
• Participate in the on-call consultant rota as required by the service.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a specialist in Psychiatry (Learning Disability) with the Medical Council of Ireland.
• Experience at consultant level in intellectual disability psychiatry or related specialty.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient-centred, evidence-based practice.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland at the time of appointment.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Consultant Psychiatrist of Learning Disability (Adult), Grade Code 1759.
• Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €229,558 – €278,456 per annum, as per HSE consolidated pay scales.
• Contract Type: Permanent, wholetime (37 hours per week).
