An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant (Band 1) to join Galway Roscommon Mental Health Services within the HSE West and North West region. This role offers a rewarding career supporting service users within mental health settings, working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team across inpatient, residential, and community services.

There are currently three permanent vacancies available across Galway and Roscommon.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality personal and clinical care to service users under the direction of nursing staff
• Support service users with daily living activities while promoting dignity and independence
• Assist with therapeutic and recreational programmes within mental health services
• Observe, report, and document changes in service users’ conditions
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health team
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive care environment
• Participate in night duty and weekend rosters as required


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing direct care in a healthcare setting (hospital, residential, community, or nursing home)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to person-centred care and HSE values
Full clean manual driving licence required for community posts (desirable for other locations)
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends

These services form part of Galway Roscommon Mental Health Services, delivering specialist mental health care across inpatient, residential, and community settings.
