Galway University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated Laundry Worker (Grade 4900) to join the General Support team. This permanent wholetime position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality linen services for patients and clinical staff. Key Responsibilities
• Operate industrial laundry equipment safely and efficiently
• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens across hospital departments
• Maintain hygiene and infection control standards at all times
• Report machine faults or maintenance needs promptly
• Ensure accurate record-keeping of linen volumes and stock levels
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet service demands
• Support a clean, safe working environment in compliance with HSE guidelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience in a laundry, industrial cleaning, or support services role (desirable)
• Ability to work in a physically active, fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of hygiene standards
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of teamwork
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to follow training, procedures, and safety protocols
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary (Laundry Worker – Grade 4900):
€34,582–€40,783 per annum (effective 1 August 2025)
