The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Senior Medical Officer (Grade 183T) for the Area Office on Arden Road, Tullamore, Co Offaly. This permanent wholetime position sits within the HSE Dublin and Midlands region and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants. The role focuses on delivering high-quality public health services through prevention, protection, and health improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver senior medical expertise across public health pillars: health protection, health and wellbeing, health service improvement, and health intelligence.
• Provide clinical guidance and leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
• Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health initiatives.
• Contribute to evidence-based decision-making and service development.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practice.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory and clinical governance standards.
• Travel as required to fulfil service needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Relevant medical qualification, specialist training, and registration with the appropriate professional body.
• Demonstrated experience in public health practice across population health pillars.
• Strong understanding of public health frameworks, legislation, and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across care areas.
• Access to appropriate transport to meet the needs of the post.
