The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Senior Medical Scientist (ICT/LIS) in Sligo. This permanent wholetime role offers the opportunity to lead laboratory information systems and drive digital excellence across Laboratory Medicine. Applicants must demonstrate significant experience in ICT/LIS.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and optimisation of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
• Support integration, data flow, and interoperability across laboratory and hospital systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance digital diagnostics processes.
• Ensure data integrity, quality assurance, and compliance with ICT and laboratory standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to scientific and technical staff.
• Troubleshoot LIS issues and coordinate with ICT teams and system vendors.
• Drive system upgrades, testing cycles, and change management processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Science (or equivalent CORU-recognised qualification).
• Eligibility for CORU registration as a Medical Scientist.
Depth and breadth of experience in Laboratory Medicine ICT/LIS (mandatory).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting laboratory workflows within acute hospital settings.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Senior Medical Scientist (3877)
Contract: Permanent, Wholetime
Working hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay: As per HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (Health & Social Care Professionals)
