The Health Service Executive is seeking Peer Support Workers to join Mayo Mental Health Services in Castlebar. These permanent posts offer the opportunity to use lived experience to support and empower individuals on their recovery journey. Roles are available in both the Recovery Hub at St Mary’s Campus and the Teach Aisling Approved Centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group peer support to service users
• Use lived experience to model hope, resilience, and recovery
• Support service users in developing personal recovery plans
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in service development within Mental Health Services
• Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated lived experience of mental health difficulties and recovery
• Ability to articulate personal recovery journey appropriately in a professional setting
• Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to person-centred, recovery-oriented practice
• Capacity to work both independently and as part of a broader care team

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• HSE terms and conditions apply (Grade: Peer Support Worker 6038)
• One permanent part-time role (0.5 WTE, 19.5 hours per week)
• One permanent full-time role (39 hours per week)
