The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Principal Social Worker to lead high-quality social work services in Limerick as part of the HSE Mid West region. This permanent wholetime role offers an opportunity to provide strategic clinical leadership, oversee complex casework, and support service excellence within Health and Social Care Professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the delivery of professional social work services across the assigned area.
• Provide expert clinical supervision, governance, and leadership to social work teams.
• Oversee complex assessments, safeguarding interventions, and multidisciplinary case management.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate service improvements, quality initiatives, and workforce development plans.
• Support staff recruitment, professional development, and performance management.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service integration and patient experience.
• Contribute to strategic planning, audits, and reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Recognised professional qualification in Social Work.
• CORU registration as a Social Worker.
• Significant post-qualification experience in senior or supervisory social work roles.
• Demonstrated expertise in complex casework, safeguarding, and risk management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, national policies, and HSE operating frameworks.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.
