Cork University Hospital (CUH), one of Ireland’s leading tertiary referral centres, is seeking a Radiographer Clinical Specialist to join the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory team. About the Role
As a Radiographer Clinical Specialist (Cath Lab), you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality diagnostic and interventional imaging services to support cardiac procedures. The role involves advanced imaging practice, radiation safety, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary cardiac teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist radiographic imaging for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols and HSE quality standards.
- Support cardiologists and nursing teams during procedures through expert image acquisition and analysis.
- Maintain and calibrate advanced imaging and monitoring equipment.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance, and service improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior radiographers and students.
- Contribute to ongoing professional development and departmental education programmes.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU.
- CORU registration as a Radiographer.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in diagnostic radiography, with significant Cath Lab experience.
- Proven ability to manage workflow in a high-pressure environment.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Cardiac or Interventional Radiography.
- Previous experience in a Clinical Specialist or senior Cath Lab role.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and participation in research or audit.

- Salary Scale (1 August 2025): Radiographer – Clinical Specialist (Code 3131): approximately €62,000 – €73,000 per annum, as per the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (DoH Circular 6/2025).
