The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West is seeking applications for the post of Registrar in Surgery at University Hospital Limerick. This is a fixed-term, whole-time position offering a valuable opportunity to develop surgical experience within one of Ireland’s major regional hospitals. The role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality surgical care under consultant supervision.
• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and operating theatre sessions.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and patient management plans.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
• Participate in on-call and emergency rotas as required.
• Contribute to audit, teaching, and research within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Medical degree eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Minimum of two years’ post-graduate hospital experience.
• Previous surgical experience desirable.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy hospital environment.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
As per the HSE Registrar (Medical & Dental Grade 1538) salary scale effective 1 August 2025, the annual salary ranges from €68,891 to €81,126 depending on experience and incremental point.
