The HSE South West invites applications for the position of Senior House Officer / Registrar in Psychiatry within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Cork. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing specialist mental health care to young people and their families across the South West region.
About the Role
The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality psychiatric assessment and treatment for children and adolescents presenting with complex mental health needs. This post offers valuable clinical experience within CAMHS, including exposure to community-based and acute settings under consultant supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans for young people within CAMHS.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, nurses, and social workers.
- Participate in case reviews, family meetings, and clinical supervision.
- Contribute to teaching, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE standards.
- Provide on-call cover as required within the service.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- MB BCh BAO or equivalent medical qualification eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
- Experience working in psychiatry or a related mental health discipline.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred
- Previous experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Completion or participation in a recognized Basic Specialist Training or Higher Specialist Training scheme.
- Research or audit experience within psychiatry.

- Senior House Officer (Grade 1012): €54,203 – €74,133 per annum (7 points).
- Registrar (Grade 1538): €68,891 – €81,126 per annum (6 points).
