Join the dedicated Occupational Therapy team at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, part of the HSE Dublin and North East Health Region. This permanent, whole-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient recovery and rehabilitation through the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) service.
About the Role
The Senior Occupational Therapist (ESD) will play a vital role in supporting patients transitioning from acute hospital care to home-based rehabilitation. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate, assess, and deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions aligned with HSE service objectives and patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients referred to the ESD programme.
- Collaborate with physiotherapists, nurses, medical staff, and community teams to support seamless patient discharge and rehabilitation.
- Develop, implement, and review patient-centred treatment plans.
- Lead and mentor junior staff and students within the Occupational Therapy department.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in education and training programmes to promote best practice in rehabilitation care.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with HSE policy and data protection standards.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU).
- CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with relevant clinical experience in stroke, neurorehabilitation, or hospital-based practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred
- Experience in Early Supported Discharge or community rehabilitation settings.
- Postgraduate training in neurological rehabilitation or related disciplines.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.

- Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €61,983 – €72,559 per annum (based on HSE Consolidated Pay Scales for Grade Code 3301 – Senior Occupational Therapist).
