Join the HSE Dublin and North East team as a Senior Occupational Therapist within the Orthopaedics Department. Based across Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Louth County Hospital, this permanent, whole-time role offers a chance to deliver advanced occupational therapy services to patients recovering from orthopaedic procedures and injuries.

About the Role

As part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate and develop occupational therapy services within the orthopaedics specialty. The role involves providing clinical expertise, supporting patient rehabilitation, and contributing to service development to enhance functional recovery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy interventions for orthopaedic inpatients and outpatients.
  • Assess and treat patients with post-surgical and musculoskeletal conditions to restore functional independence.
  • Collaborate with consultants, physiotherapists, and nursing staff to develop individualised care plans.
  • Contribute to discharge planning, ensuring safe and effective transitions to home or community settings.
  • Provide guidance and clinical supervision to junior staff and students.
  • Participate in quality improvement and clinical audit activities.
  • Support ongoing education and evidence-based practice within the orthopaedics department.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • A recognised degree or qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • CORU registration (Occupational Therapists Registration Board).
  • A minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with significant clinical exposure to orthopaedics or acute hospital care.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Preferred

  • Postgraduate training in orthopaedic rehabilitation, splinting, or upper limb therapy.
  • Experience leading service development or quality initiatives.
  • Familiarity with HSE systems and clinical governance structures.
