Job Overview
Mayo University Hospital is seeking an experienced Senior Pharmacist to join its hospital pharmacy service. This is a key clinical role within the HSE, offering the opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care, service development, and multidisciplinary collaboration in a busy acute hospital setting.
This Senior Pharmacist Mayo University Hospital position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is ideal for candidates with significant hospital pharmacy experience looking to progress their professional career.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy service within the hospital
• Support safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines
• Supervise, mentor, and support junior pharmacy staff
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinical teams and ward rounds
• Contribute to medication safety initiatives and audit activities
• Assist in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and professional standards
• Participate in service planning and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Qualification as a Pharmacist recognised by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)
• Current registration with the PSI
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience working in a hospital pharmacy
• Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Experience in supervising or supporting pharmacy staff (desirable)
• Commitment to continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for Senior Pharmacist (Grade 3239)
