The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national health service, providing comprehensive healthcare services across the country. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Physiotherapist to join our specialized Pelvic Health team at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth County Hospital. This is a permanent wholetime position offering 35 hours weekly with excellent career development opportunities in women’s health specialization.

About the Role

As Senior Physiotherapist – Pelvic Health, you will lead the delivery of specialized physiotherapy services for maternity and gynaecology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. You’ll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide evidence-based pelvic health interventions while contributing to service development and clinical excellence in this growing specialty area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead specialized pelvic health physiotherapy services across maternity and gynaecology wards, ensuring high-quality patient care and clinical outcomes
  • Provide expert assessment and treatment for women with pelvic floor dysfunction, pregnancy-related conditions, and post-operative gynaecological issues
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including obstetricians, gynaecologists, midwives, and nursing staff to optimize patient care pathways
  • Develop and implement evidence-based protocols for pelvic health physiotherapy interventions in maternity and gynaecology services
  • Supervise and mentor junior physiotherapy staff in pelvic health specialization and women’s health practice
  • Contribute to service planning and quality improvement initiatives within the physiotherapy department and broader women’s health services
  • Maintain professional development in pelvic health specialization through continuing education and clinical research participation

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent recognized qualification
  • Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
  • Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience in physiotherapy with demonstrated competency in pelvic health or women’s health
  • Specialized training in pelvic health physiotherapy including assessment and treatment techniques
  • Strong clinical reasoning skills and ability to work independently in complex cases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in pelvic health, women’s health, or related specialty area
  • Previous experience in maternity/gynaecology settings within acute hospital environment
  • Experience in staff supervision and mentoring in clinical physiotherapy practice
  • Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures related to maternity and women’s health services
  • Research experience in pelvic health or women’s health physiotherapy
