The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is seeking a dedicated Social Care Worker to join its team in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities while working within a values-driven, person-centred organisation funded under Section 38 of the Health Act.
About the Role
As a Social Care Worker (Grade Code 3029), you will support individuals in achieving their personal goals and developing life skills that promote independence, inclusion, and well-being. The role involves direct service delivery within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment across the HSE West and North West Health Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support to service users.
- Implement individual care and support plans that promote independence.
- Facilitate community participation and social inclusion initiatives.
- Liaise effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to HIQA standards and organisational policies.
- Participate in staff development, supervision, and team meetings.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- A QQI Level 7 or equivalent qualification in Social Care or Applied Social Studies.
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of HIQA regulations and person-centred planning principles.
Preferred
- A full clean driver’s licence.
- Experience working in residential or community-based disability services.
- Familiarity with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.

- Salary Scale (as of 1 August 2025): €37,606 – €54,257 per annum (HSE consolidated pay scale for Social Care Worker Grade 3029, including 1% increase under the 2024–2026 Public Service Agreement).
