Job Overview
Galway University Hospital is currently seeking applications for the role of Supplementary C.S.S.D. Operative Galway to support the Central Sterile Services Department. This is an excellent opportunity to join the HSE in a critical frontline support role that underpins safe patient care across clinical services.
The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated sterile services team, ensuring the effective decontamination, assembly, and distribution of medical instruments in line with national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and pack surgical instruments and equipment
• Operate sterilisation and decontamination equipment safely and effectively
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with CSSD procedures
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards
• Support endoscopy and theatre services as required
• Adhere to HSE policies, quality standards, and health & safety procedures
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Endoscopy, Decontamination, or CSSD
• Knowledge of sterile services processes and infection control practices
• Ability to follow detailed procedures accurately and consistently
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Flexibility to meet service demands
