Job Overview
The Clinical Midwife Specialist Perinatal Mental Health role at Sligo University Hospital offers an opportunity to deliver specialist care to women experiencing mental health challenges during pregnancy and the postnatal period. This position plays a vital role in enhancing maternal wellbeing through expert clinical practice, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
This is a permanent wholetime opportunity within the HSE West and North West region, open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist midwifery care in perinatal mental health services
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for women with complex needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care
- Offer clinical leadership and support to midwifery and nursing staff
- Promote best practice and evidence-based care in perinatal mental health
- Support service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Educate and support patients and families throughout care pathways
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or experience in mental health or specialist midwifery
- Demonstrated experience in perinatal or maternal healthcare settings
- Strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Clinical Midwife Specialist scale ranging from €62,078 to €78,443 per annum, depending on experience and service increments.
