Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 at Mayo University Hospital plays a key leadership role within the Home First Elderly Medicine service, supporting high-quality care for older patients presenting with frailty in emergency and acute settings. This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position offers the opportunity to lead nursing practice, enhance patient flow, and promote integrated care for patients aged 75 and over.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and managerial leadership within the Emergency & Acute Medicine service.
- Coordinate and manage care for elderly patients presenting with frailty-related conditions.
- Support the implementation of the Home First model of care to optimise patient outcomes.
- Supervise, mentor and support nursing staff to ensure high standards of professional practice.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate safe and timely discharge planning.
- Ensure compliance with national HSE policies, clinical guidelines and governance frameworks.
- Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement programmes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the appropriate division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-registration nursing experience relevant to the role.
- Proven nurse management experience with patients presenting to emergency and acute settings with frailty issues aged 75+.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
