Letterkenny University Hospital, part of the Health Service Executive (HSE) West and North West region, is seeking an Assistant Director of Midwifery (Reference: L8721). This permanent, full-time leadership role offers an opportunity to shape and deliver excellence in maternity services in Donegal.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support midwifery teams across clinical, operational, and strategic areas.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of midwifery standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, evidence-based maternity care.
• Support the Director of Midwifery in workforce planning, policy implementation, and service delivery.
• Drive quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and staff development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Midwife with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (NMBI).
• Significant post-registration experience in midwifery leadership or management.
• Proven ability in strategic planning, resource management, and governance.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Grade: Director of Midwifery 2 – Assistant (Code 2920).
According to HSE pay scales effective 1 August 2025, the salary range is €67,815 – €81,203 per annum (8 points).
